Timeshare
4 June 2025
Queenstown is one of New Zealand’s most desirable holiday destinations — and ownership at The Ridge means a spacious three-bedroom chalet with spectacular views, private spa, and room for up to 8 guests.
Many owners have enjoyed the value and flexibility of their Ridge ownership for years while believing owning a title of a portion of a prime plot of Real Estate in Queenstown had value. That is why we are concerned by an offer to acquire timeshare units for nothing - plus the “seller" has to pay half of the purchaser's legal fees, the disclosure fees, and the 2025 levy - and there is a limited timeframe to allow due diligence.
Offers like this seriously undervalue the resort and impact all owners. But owners desperate to dispose of their week may be attracted.
Queenstown Lakes District Council value the timeshare units at approx $20M. The Body Corporate Committee insure the timeshare buildings alone at $35M at replacement value.
969 weeks of Ridge Resort chalet use have been sold to owners. This means that, on the face of it, each week has an underlying value of over $20,000. Why would owners then pay to give their week away for nothing?
The Owners Support Group (OSG) firmly believes that The Ridge has real value. We encourage owners to work together to protect and promote that value.
