OSG Strategy Co-ordinator

My family and I have been owners of two floating weeks at the Ridge since the mid-1990s. We have enjoyed many holidays at the Ridge, and after relocating to Wanaka from Nelson approximately 20 years ago, we have also been exchanging our weeks for international holidays.

With over 40 years as a surveyor and project manager in land development, infstructure, and planning, I bring a practical, results oriented approach. I have worked under the Land Transfer and Unit Titles Acts and within Resource Management frameworks. My primary objective is to seek a new ownership structure that permits all owners to sell on their terms, as and when they wish.

The Ridge needs a clear plan that addresses owners' needs. I am committed to addressing the issues. While we cannot change the past, we can assume responsibility for the future. We need to work together to have pride in what we all own collectively.

OSG Communications co-ordinator

Since purchasing our title in 1990, my husband and I have enjoyed numerous holidays in Queenstown and abroad through the RCI exchange system, finding the timeshare concept beneficial. I recognise that many owners who purchased when we did are now experiencing problems.

Older owners no longer able to enjoy visiting the resort.

Some retired owners with fixed incomes are struggling with increasing levies.

Timeshare is perceived negatively making it difficult to sell.

I also recognise that there are many owners who have inherited their entitlement and are not very familiar with the timeshare concept.

I see my role on the OSG committee as improving communications for owners so they feel connected to other owners, know where to find information or get advice, and most importantly realise that they are not alone.

I have been a timeshare owner at The Pines Resort in Wanaka for 39 years and previously at Tiki Village International on the Gold Coast, enjoying countless memorable holidays with family and friends. Six years ago, I purchased a unit at The Ridge, having previously exchanged there a few times.

I joined a group of owners on Facebook to share views and advocate for more communication. I quickly realized that many others shared my beliefs. I'm pleased that this initiative has evolved into the Owners Support Group (OSG), which is committed to listening to owners and driving positive change.

My current role in the group is to ensure that all members of our Facebook page are bona fide owners or close relatives of owners. I also monitor posts to make sure they are respectful and to the best of my knowledge truthful.

We welcome more owners or their family members to join.

My wife and I have owned a floating week at the Ridge since it started in 1988, and have had many great family holidays there.

I have a background as a teacher (at secondary and tertiary levels) and as a Chartered Accountant. I’m now mostly retired, but still do some part time teaching on an Executive MBA programme and I run a few accounting-for-non-accountants workshops for small businesses. I enjoy helping people understand financial accounts.

When not working part time, my interests include running, home brewing, and travelling in our motorhome.

Almost all timeshare resorts in NZ operate as a body corporate. I have chaired these bodies for more than 15 years and founded the national Body Corporate Chairs’ Group to provide information and support to chairs across New Zealand. This experience has given me a strong understanding of what it takes to lead a successful committee, contribute as a proactive, supportive member and deliver for owners.

As a trained economist, I value sound financial decision-making—both for today and for the long-term. Having owned at the Ridge for over 30 years, I understand the challenges we face and the need for fresh, collaborative management to strengthen our resort’s future.

My background includes military service, education, executive leadership, and senior roles in government, alongside extensive volunteer governance in the not-for-profit sector. These roles have built my skills in strategic decision-making, governance, financial management, and collaborative leadership.

Currently, I serve as the voluntary Treasurer for a major community regeneration project in New Brighton, Christchurch. My focus is on delivering value, using resources responsibly, and ensuring community input at every stage. I would bring the same approach to the Ridge body corporate—practical, transparent, and future-focused.

With this experience, I am committed to working with owners to ensure the Ridge meets the needs of all owners and thrives into the future. I welcome your questions and will always respond promptly. I am here to work for you.

I am based in Christchurch and have been a proud Ridge Resort owner for over 40 years. I’ve enjoyed the best of what the Ridge and its international exchange opportunities once offered. I want to work to with owners to ensure the resort is enjoyable, user-friendly, and ultimately saleable.

I have a strong background in compliance, construction, and leadership, underpinned by over 45 years of business experience across domestic, commercial, and industrial projects. I am a Qualified Electrical Inspector and Independent Qualified Person (IQP), recognised by councils throughout the South Island.

My leadership roles include serving as Past President of the Canterbury Westland Electricians Association and Chairman of a local Body Corporate for over 20 years.

Throughout my career, I have led numerous construction and electrical projects, managed Healthy Homes Programmes across New Zealand through my franchise network, providing consulting services in design, budgeting, and project management.

Since being elected to the committee I have visited The Ridge to make a thorough heating and cooling assessment. This report is about to be presented to the committee for consideration and later will be available for all owners.
