SUMMARY OF OWNER KEEP OR SELL SURVEY

In January 2026, the Owners Support Group (OSG) conducted an online survey of non-Classic timeshare owners for whom email contact details were available, comprising just over 700 owners.

The survey centered on a single primary question: whether owners wished to sell their week(s) (Yes/No). Owners who indicated that they wished to sell were asked to provide their reasons and an indicative timeframe. Those who indicated that they did not wish to sell were asked to outline their reasons for retaining ownership and whether they would consider purchasing additional weeks.

The principal objective of the survey was to gain insight into owners’ future intentions regarding their timeshare ownership.

A total of 433 owners responded, representing the highest level of participation in any Ridge Resort owner survey to date. Of these respondents, almost 77% (333 owners) indicated that they wished to sell, while 23% indicated that they did not. Among the 100 owners who wished to retain their week(s), 22 expressed interest in acquiring additional weeks.

Timeframe for saying “Yes” to selling

223 owners (51.5%) of all respondents want to sell within the next three years.

121 owners (27.9%) would sell immediately.

How reliable is this information?

Short answer: Very!

A statistical analysis of these responses indicates that we can be 99% confident (within +/-4%) that any similar survey would provide the same results.

This indicates a very robust result – most researchers would be very happy with a 10%-30% response to this type of survey and a 95% confidence level (+/-5%).

The top 3 reasons for wanting to sell were:

Levies are too expensive (148 owners)

Family not interested in inheriting the week (98 owners)

It is too difficult to travel/visit the resort (31 owners)

There were a number of other reasons stated as well, including age, health, difficulty booking weeks, poor maintenance, don’t need three bedrooms etc.

Top three reasons for wanting to keep their units:

Perfect holiday home

Long term holiday investment for the family

3 bedrooms

Other reasons mentioned include value for money, Queenstown attractions and activities, ability to exchange worldwide and the spa on the deck.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in this survey.
